Day 7: Basically still on track

[This is part of an ongoing series chronicling our one and half week attempt to finish a handful of moderately involved home improvement projects.  See the whole series here.]

In the Day 6 post, I wrote:

Today (Day 7) we’ll do the remainder of kitchen destruction (removing sink and countertops) and hopefully finish kitchen painting.  Countertop and/or floor installation is hopefully tomorrow.

We did finish the sink and countertop removal, meaning the kitchen is now naught but some cabinet boxes on subfloor.  We got another coat of paint on all of the cabinets, meaning there are still two to go.  The edging in the kitchen is about 1/4 complete.

We also got a first coat of (red!) paint on the front and back doors.  They’ll need at least one more, but are looking nice so far.

The day 8 goal is countertops & sink re-installation, and more painting.

The album of the day yesterday was Almost You: The Songs of Elvis Costello (a tribute/cover collection).  It’s sort of cheating, since we’ve owned it for 6 or 7 years, but it’s great, and after yesterday’s new album disappointments I just didn’t want to mess around.  🙂  Lunch was a shared burger and some soup from the neighborhood tavern (the Blue Moon), and dinner was leftover Indian food.
